More than 5,000 participants stepped out Saturday, April 26, for the 2014 Angels Among Us 5K. Together, individuals and teams raised more than $2 million to support the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center. The event surpassed its original goal of $1.9 million. Toni's Miracle Angels, a team consisting of members from Iowa, Missouri and Florida, led the way, raising $116,483. The next Angels Among Us 5K will be held Saturday, April 25, 2015.

"It's always a special day for our patients, their families and friends," said Ellen Stainback, event organizer and director of external relations for the brain tumor center. "It's also very special for our staff. It's a day to honor the ones we have lost and celebrate our survivors—a day filled with hugs, tears and much joy."

Proceeds benefit DCI brain tumor research. For more information on next year's 5K or to view photographs from April's Angels Among Us, visit www.angelsamongus.org.
