Marquette Jeffery, a coordinator at the Belk Boutique in the Duke Cancer Center, married Johnnie McGill, a security guard for Duke University Hospital in the first-ever wedding to be held in the Duke Cancer Center.

Jeffery and McGill first met in the Duke Cancer Center in 2016 while they were working, and have been inseparable ever since. McGill said he still gets butterflies every time he turns the corner to walk by the boutique where Jeffery works.

"We wanted to get married here because this place means everything to us," said Jeffery. "Patients are our heart, so getting married where we help patients every day just meant the world to us."

The happy couple will enjoy a honeymoon in the U.S. Virgin Islands before returning to work in the place where it all began.
