Yuri E. Nikiforov, MD, PhD, Professor of Pathology, Vice-Chair for Molecular Pathology, Director, Division of Molecular & Genomic Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, will deliver the October DCI Seminar. Nikiforov's research is focused on thyroid cancer genetics and mechanisms of chromosomal rearrangements and other mutations induced by ionizing radiation in thyroid cells and other cell types. Since 2000, Nikiforov's research activities have led to four scientific discoveries. These discoveries have resulted in more than 100 published papers. Nikiforov will deliver the lecture “Genome-Based Management of patients with Thyroid Nodules and Cancer: Up Close and personal”
The DCI Seminar Series will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the Trent Semans Center, Great Hall. The lecture begins at 8:10 a.m. and ends at 9 a.m. Nikiforov's address will be preceded by a hematology-oncology fellow presentation starting at 7:30 a.m. All are invited to attend.
