In the battle against cancer, it’s critical to make time to rest, restore and rejuvenate – both body and soul. With that in mind, the Duke Cancer Center will host the 8th annual Spa Day, an event organized by the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program, on Wednesday, June 3, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Last year, more than 200 guests attended, including patients and their caregivers. Vendors and service providers volunteer time, talent and resources to pamper Duke Cancer Center patients,
“I was diagnosed first with colon cancer,” said Joyce Laskody at last year's event. “Then a few weeks later, I learned that I also have lung cancer. Battling these illnesses takes everything I’ve got. It feels good to let a professional doll me up.”
Spa services include complimentary makeovers by makeup artists from Belk, wig styling at the cancer center’s Belk Boutique, massage therapy, hand massage, gentle yoga, an introduction to journaling and much more.
