Last year Duke University School of Medicine began the process of developing a new strategic plan. According to the School of Medicine, the new 10-year plan outlines five major themes and provides a review of accomplishments achieved since 2006, when the last strategic plan was launched.

"The new plan lays out an aspirational roadmap that sets us in the direction we need to go, but it will undoubtedly be modified over time as new opportunities and challenges arise," wrote Nancy C. Andrews, MD, PhD, dean of Duke University School of Medicine, in a memo delivered to faculty, staff and students on April 5. "The plan is ambitious, but it is by no means comprehensive – it focuses on important goals, but there is much to be done that is not explicitly mentioned."
