Youngster Raises More Than $1,000

Eight-year-old Declan heads up Dashing for David, a fundraising team he put together in honor of his dad who battles leukemia. To date the team has raised $3,012, with Declan raising $1,377 on his own. Dashing for David won the prize for the 2015 top fundraising team. Declan is active at the Duke Cancer Center, participating monthly in KidsCan, an activity offered by the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program to children of a parent diagnosed with cancer.

Hosted by the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program (DCPSP) and the Center for Learning Health Care (CLHC), Spring For Support has raised $23,492 so far this year. The 5K was held at the the Streets at Southpoint, in Durham, on March 28. Organizers are still accepting donations. Proceeds benefit the DCPSP.
