Zafar Named Director of Healthcare Innovation
Yousuf Zafar, MD, associate professor of Medicine and Public Policy, has been appointed director of Healthcare Innovation.
In his new role, Zafar will be responsible for articulating a vision of value-based innovation in cancer care delivery. He will identify the short and long-term objectives required to progress toward this vision. Zafar will collaborate with representatives within DCI, the Duke University Health System, and external stakeholders.
"We have always focused on providing the absolute best healthcare for our patients," said Zafar. "In today’s environment of rising costs, we have to provide that best healthcare at lower cost. As director of Healthcare Innovation, I am excited to work within our health system—and with partners around the state—to help identify and implement strategies to introduce value-based care at DCI."
Zafar is a health services researcher with a focus in improving care delivery for patients with advanced cancer. He has advanced training in health services research and has participated in single-institution, multi-institution and national studies focusing on access to care, cost of care and comparative effectiveness of care delivery between health systems.
