Cancer Center Founder William Shingleton Remembered; Four DCI Supporters Honored

On October 13, 2022, members of the Shingleton Society gathered at the Shingleton Society Dinner to hear from Duke Cancer Institute (DCI) researchers and physicians and to honor this year's Shingleton awardees for their outstanding generosity and service in advancing the fight against cancer.
This year's awardees are:
- The William W. Shingleton Award (the DCI's highest volunter honor): Leslie Ann Graves
- The Shingleton Award for Community Partnership: Clayton Homes of Oxford
- The Shingleton Award for Caregiver Partnership: Dan George, MD
- The Shingleton Award for Distinguished Service: The Menges Family and the I'm Not Done Yet Foundation

Georgia Beasley, MD, co-director of the Duke Melanoma Program, gave the keynote presentation, and members also heard an update from DCI Executive Director Michael Kastan, MD, PhD.
In addition, this year's dinner featured a video tribute to William Warner Shingleton, MD, the founding director of Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center (now Duke Cancer Institute).
