Valentine's Candy-Grams for Sale to CRUSH Colorectal Cancer

It's that time of year again to share the love. One of Duke Cancer Institute's CRUSH Colorectal Cancer 5K Run/Walk teams — the GI Clinical Trials Team: Partners with Painters in Awareness of CRC (PIA's) — is selling Valentine's Day candy-grams in support of this year's forthcoming walk, to be held on Saturday, March 24, at Northgate Mall in Durham.
Bags of candy can be purchased for $5 now and delivered to that special someone at Duke Hospital or in campus clinics and offices during the week of February 12 to 16. (Email Sherri Haley, RN, for an order form, or download order form and page Sherri at 970-4460 or Wanda at 970-6128 to pick up your completed form and money. You can also pay with Venmo @CRUSH2018)
Registration is already open for the 2018 CRUSH Colorectal Cancer 5K Run/Walk, now in it's fifth year, which is held in honor and celebration of those whose lives have been touched by colorectal cancer and to benefit colorectal cancer research at Duke. Hosted by the Duke Cancer Institute Gastrointestinal Cancer disease group, the walk benefits colorectal cancer research at Duke and community outreach and education.
Last year, CRUSH teams and their supporters broke records raising more than $100,000 — $30,000 more than in 2016. Event organizers are challenging walkers and runners to make 2018 "even better."
According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers in the United States. Every year more than 140,000 people are diagnosed with colon or rectal cancer, and every year, more than 50,000 die from this disease. Recent advances have significantly contributed to improving screening and treatment, and have resulted in a growing population of colorectal cancer survivors.
The 2018 CRUSH Colorectal Cancer 5K and Walk will start and finish at Northgate Mall in Durham on Saturday, March 24. Participants are encouraged to join teams or form teams and raise funds. For more information or to register, visit CRUSH.
