FRNM-007 The PROACT LUNG Study
What is the Purpose of this Study?
If you join the study, you will sign a consent form, complete a questionnaire, and provide a blood sample. You will also have your regular low-dose CT scan for lung cancer screening as part of your usual medical care. The study team will review your medical records and follow your health for about 2 years.
Lung cancer in adults who are eligible for lung cancer screening because they are age 50 to 80 and have a history of smoking.
Who Can Participate in the Study?
People may be able to join this study if they are between 50 and 80 years old and are current or former cigarette smokers with a long history of smoking. They must already be scheduled to have a special lung scan called a low dose CT scan to check for lung cancer. Participants need to be able to understand the study and agree to take part.
People cannot join if they are currently being treated for cancer, have had a cancer diagnosis within the past five years except for certain skin cancers, or have symptoms that could suggest lung cancer. Researchers are studying ways to learn more about lung health and lung cancer screening in people at higher risk for lung cancer.
What is Involved?
This study is testing a new blood test called FMBT-Lung to see how well it can help find lung cancer in people who are already getting routine lung cancer screening. Researchers hope this blood test may improve the early detection of lung cancer and help support future screening methods.
