The Mid-Atlantic and North Carolina-Virginia Regions of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society present a free in-person education event to blood cancer patients, survivors, family members, caregivers, and *health care professionals.
Experts in the areas of blood cancer research, treatment, and survivorship will present information on each topic, with the goal of educating conference participants about treatment options, emerging therapies, management of survivorship issues, and LLS resources.
Duke Cancer Institute members are among the featured speakers: Sophia Smith, PhD, MSW, will deliver the keynote address "Caring for Your Emotions During Cancer." Hematologic oncologist Danielle Brander, MD, will address chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), and hematologic oncologist Lindsay Rein, MD, will address chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Hannah Fisher, PhD, will address survivorship and mindfulness.
