The Triangle Rock Club of Durham and the Duke Cancer Patient Support program (part of the Supportive Care & Survivorship Center at DCI) are co-hosting a special TYAO meetup for young adult cancer patients and survivors (ages 18 to 29) who've been treated at Duke, UNC, and Wake Forest Baptist Atrium Health.
There will be all kinds of climbing options, including adaptive climbing, and wheelchairs are welcome. The special event, which is free of charge, also includes lawn games and henna tattooing. A DJ and the Friendly Tacos food truck are also part of the festivities. The event ends at 8 p.m.
Registration is required.
Teen and Young Adult Cancer Support
The Teen and Young Adult Oncology Program (TYAO) addresses the unique challenges faced by teens and young adults with cancer. It assists young people with cancer ages 15 to 29 and their families, from diagnosis through recovery — offering age-specific medical care, mental health services, peer connection opportunities, and more.
Meetups — whether in person or virtual — foster connections among this patient population.
