Executive director of talent management for Duke Health Development and Alumni Affairs (DHDA) Jeff Chitester, MS, MA, will assume the role of Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) for Duke Cancer Institute, effective November 3, 2021.

In this new role, Chitester will lead DCI human resources efforts across the Duke University Health System and the Duke University School of Medicine.

"Jeff made a lasting impact on employee engagement, work culture, recruitment, and diversity, equity and inclusion during his eight-year tenure as a leader within DHDA," announced Robin Famiglietti, PhD, MBA, FACHE, associate vice president of Oncology Services, Duke University Health System, and associate dean and chief administrator, Duke Cancer Institute. "This included ushering in a Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Committee, which has worked in partnership with the Duke University School of Medicine Office of Inclusion and Equity on related programming and initiatives."

Chitester earned an MA in English Literature in 1991 and MS in Human Resources and Leadership Development in 1995, before embarking on a nearly two decade human resources career across various health systems, including serving as CHRO for Duke Regional Hospital from 2001 to 2004.

"Jeff's skills and experience perfectly position him to execute our vision for this new DCI leadership role," said Famiglietti.

Famiglietti announced last week that current DCI CHRO LeAnn Hinson, RN, MSN, has announced her retirement, effective October 31.
